Give Me Pink LP

Telephone Explosion 2010

I lost my liner notes (or maybe it never came with any?) so I’m gonna make this one quick and dirty, just like the LP: Toronto’s Teenanger (featuring members of weird noise band Quebexico) are just now putting out their debut album but having done their time on bills with fellow labelmates Demon’s Claws, they’re definitely not strangers to boozy garage punk and it shows. Like a more restrained Stooges but with the same raw lo-fi power, vocalist Alex Lekay really nails those Iggy Pop drawls, and the occasional girl harmonies courtesy of bassist Sharon Needles and garage rock harmonica makes you forget just how scuzzy this debut album really is. Check it out on the band’s in-house label Telephone Explosion. (Janelle Hollyrock)
