THE POLYMORPHINES The Slip EP

THE POLYMORPHINES
The Slip EP 2011

THE POLYMORPHINES are back with yet another release, this one a 4 songer that wallops your noggin’ and ends way too soon. Like early UIC (‘80s Toronto garage rockers) meets Flamingo era FLAMIN’ GROOVIES, these guys have all of the jangle, strum and whine guitar sounds done just right to create that rock’n’roll sound that we all love. Combine that with some poppy, hook laden vocals, and you’ve got a winning combination on this one. They’ll be touring Canada this fall, so watch out for them! (Dave O’Halloran)

Transistor Sistor CD

Get Bent Records 2008

This is the 2nd full length CD by this Ottawa based combo and like the first, this is garagey sounding guitar rock with lots of hooks. Couple of personnel changes since the first release, but that hasn’t changed the direction or style of this band. Tough, gritty barroom rock’n’roll highlight these tales of hard times, bad luck, and colourful characters. Maybe even a little reminiscent of mid ‘70s Rolling Stones (circa Mick Taylor era) due to the way the dueling guitars work together and the subject matter. But don’t let that turn you off (if you’re not a fan of that Stones era), these guys sweat rock’n’roll in a really cool way! (Dave O’Halloran)
