Canada vs US on this little 7” as Toronto’s Speaking Tongues take on Detroit’s Rue Moor Counts. First up, The Rue Moor Counts take us on a dense, mid tempo blues infused stomp and roll journey that goes by the name of “On The Run”. Lots of psyche influenced guitar sounds tear through the clamor and if this is anything like their live show, I gotta check these guys out. Flip it over and we’ve got our hometown heroes “Looking In Your Window”. Dense, boogie fueled rock’n’roll noise that kinda reminded me of The Flamin’ Groovies “Slow Death” due to the overall thickness/tone of the sound. And that’s a pretty high pedestal to achieve in my book as the FG’s are one of my faves. The winner, The Speaking Tongues, but then I’m biased as I’ve seen this duo many times live and they never fail to amaze me! (Dave O’Halloran)
