When some bands get pissed off, they trash stages, hotel rooms or each other to get rid of their rage. Not The Stolen Minks, they make a CD and that’s what High Kicks is all about. From the opening line, “How ‘bout it!?!” you know you’re in for a turbulent ride as these pissed off ladies deliver their rage. With song titles like “Bring It”, “I Hate You” and “Your Broken Heart”, you know these gals aren’t happy campers. Trashy fuzzed out guitars and basses, screaming vocals, crashing drums, and background keyboards all combine for a ‘60s punk meets ‘70s punk manifesto of rock’n’roll noise. Pure fun indeed, and made for the dance floor where you can sweat and bop out that week’s worth of work on a Friday night and feel way better in the end… at least until waking up the next morn. Ah yes, now I feel better and can go and play my fave track once more, the fuzz popper “Reflexes” with its catchy chorus, “you should know you’re not a dum dum dum” and indeed you’re not if you pick up this CD!
