THEE MARTIAN BOYFRIENDS
s/t CD
Lost In Tyme Records 2010

Out of Belgium via Greece comes THEE MARTIAN BOYFRIENDS, a snot fuzz and farfisa combo who are supposedly brothers from Mars if you can believe the press release. And if that’s the case, then I wanna head to Mars because they have way better music than what I’m hearing around here these days! Fast and furious garage punk of the six oh variety that should get all the bowls and mini skirts shaking across the dance floor in time to these tunes. Coupla cover tunes, THE ANIMALS “I’m Crying” done with lots of fuzz and the ‘50s standard “Hound Dog” gone garage punk. But the real highlight of this one for me was the instro “Red Planet Groove Attack” that takes the ‘60s punk into amphetamine driven soul territory! The organ and guitar work together so well on this one, alternately repeating the main driving hook and bashing it into submission. Time to head to Mars or at least get the music from there!
